Blog #4

My plans for revisions are pretty self-explanatory. I want to change my convenience sampling and turn it into interviews. After the peer reviews, it opened my eyes to the wider picture of my research question. I thought surveys might be a sufficient way to collect data. However, after a thorough peer review, I am settling on doing interviews with staff, faculty, and students to compare the differences and cross-culture differences between multi-cultures. I also want to focus on how upbringings differ from a person's point-of-view when they become a fully-ranged adult.

Blog #3 Research Gap

Research gaps I have found in my literature review are the lack of personal experience that these scholarly articles provided. A lot of the scholarly articles I used, used a lot of third-person. They lacked the personalization. Writers talked a lot about others' experiences instead of the outsiders giving their own stories. Yes, all of the scholarly articles I provided remain true and valid, but I think it would have been beneficial to give more examples of outcomes of cross-cultural technical communication. Overall, this was still one of my favorite papers to write and I am looking forward to investigating this topic further.

For my topic, I have decided to analyze multicultural differences in technical communication. It has been proven that even experts struggle to communicate with different cultural backgrounds . I have been able to find multiple published documents that explain the reasoning behind this and plan to analyze what they may have in common, their differences, and what I have found to be anything from repetitive to useless information. These sources include topics about Multicultural Issues in Technical Communication , Race, Ethnicity, and Technical Communication , and T echnical Communication: A reader-centered approach.   I am still looking into obtaining sources from the PTW database but plan on getting the remaining four sources from that database. By the end of my analysis, I plan to know how technical communication gets altered for different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and analyze databases for what information they provide.

Blog Post #1 - Topic Interests

Hi everyone! I have not thought of any topics that have generally stuck as something I would want to research. But, I have skimmed the ideas of: How user experience with technical documentation and usability changes with different techniques.  Analyze strategies for how technical communicators adapt their own content for different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  I think both of these topics have the opportunity to be looked at further with some surprising and interesting facts.
